Why Dat Glacier in My House Dawg?

One Take Illy!

Since this happens occasionally, but nobody believes me when it does, lol... Anyways, so I decided to put on my camera and actually record me rapping and I got my verse in one take, and on top of that it was a 24 bar verse instead of just a 16, lol.... Now keep in my mind, I have a tendency to really slur my words, so it sounds really sloppy at parts, but if you listen to any of my songs you can hear it if you really look for it, lol...

Anyways, hope you enjoy, and check it out... mp3 coming soon :]

Do The Safety Dance! Yeah I sampled dat bit! big whoop wanna fight about it? lol

I originally sampled this song about 4 years ago when I first started making beats and it didn't turn out very well... So yesterday I was just messing around working on stuff and I was like hey, I remember this song, and I tried sampling it and turns out I kinda like it.  And in my recent move towards more transparency in my music making process I have documented it, so here we go :]

Standing Up For Science

By NICOLE WINFIELD, Associated Press Writer – Tue Mar 3, 2:35 pm ET
ROME – The Vatican sought Tuesday to show that it isn't opposed to science and evolutionary theory, hosting a conference on Charles Darwin and trying to debunk the idea that it embraces creationism or intelligent design.
Some of the world's top biologists, paleontologists and molecular geneticists joined theologians and philosophers for the five-day seminar marking the 150th anniversary of Darwin's "The Origin of Species."
Cardinal William Levada, head of the Vatican's Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, said the Catholic Church doesn't stand in the way of scientific realities like evolution, saying there was a "wide spectrum of room" for belief in both the scientific basis for evolution and faith in God the creator.
"We believe that however creation has come about and evolved, ultimately God is the creator of all things," he said on the sidelines of the conference.
But while the Vatican did not exclude any area of science, it did reject as "absurd" the atheist notion of biologist and author Richard Dawkins and others that evolution proves there is no God, he said.
"Of course we think that's absurd and not at all proven," he said. "But other than that ... the Vatican has recognized that it doesn't stand in the way of scientific realities."
The Vatican under Pope Benedict XVI has been trying to stress its belief that there is no incompatibility between faith and reason, and the conference at Rome's Pontifical Gregorian University was a key demonstration of its efforts to engage with the scientific community.
"The false contraposition between Darwinism and the Church," is how the Vatican's newspaper, L'Osservatore Romano, headlined its story on the conference.
Church teaching holds that Catholicism and evolutionary theory are not necessarily at odds.
Pope John Paul II articulated the church's position most clearly in a 1996 address to the Pontifical Academy for Sciences, in which he said the theory of evolution was "more than a hypothesis."
He noted the results of several independent discoveries across several disciplines, saying that convergence alone "constitutes in itself a significant argument in favor of the theory."
But the Vatican's position became somewhat confused in recent years, in part because of a 2005 New York Times op-ed piece signed by a close Benedict collaborator, Austrian Cardinal Christoph Schoenborn.
In the piece, Schoenborn seemed to reject traditional church teaching and backed instead intelligent design, the view that life is too complex to have developed through evolution alone, and that a higher power has had a hand in changes among species over time.
He said John Paul's 1996 speech was "rather vague and unimportant."
Vatican officials later made clear they did not believe intelligent design was science and that teaching it alongside evolutionary theory in school science classes only created confusion.
Francisco Ayala, a former priest and professor of biological sciences and philosophy at the University of California, Irvine, called intelligent design and creationism "blasphemous" not only to science but to the Christian faith.
"It is not only not compatible with Christian faith, it is just blasphemous because it predicates from the creator attributes that we don't want to have from the creator," he said.
He cited as an example the fact that the human jaw is too small for all its teeth, requiring wisdom teeth to be extracted. "An engineer who designed the human jaw would be fired the next day. Are we going to blame God for that?"
Proponents of intelligent design say theirs is merely a theory to detect whether the apparent design in nature is a genuine design or the product of a process like natural selection. They reject being labeled as creationists and say recent research suggests that design is the best explanation for complexity in the natural world.
In his remarks, Levada referred to both Dawkins and those Christians who have a "fundamentalist interpretation of the Bible which they want to see taught to their children in the schools alongside evolution or instead of it."
But he declined to pinpoint the Vatican's views on intelligent design, saying merely: "The Vatican listens and learns."
As a Christian I really get tired of people thinking that I'm stupid and thinking that I don't believe in science because I believe in Jesus.  People often forget that up until the early 20th century that almost all universities were founded by religious groups in search of bettering oneself through knowledge.  I believe that many of us Christians have forgotten about that desire in the 21st century, and have become complacent as the "conservative uneducated religious folk" that we are often labeled.
I remember when I first heard about creative design I remember thinking to myself how retarded it sounded, but at the same time I know many people that overly rely on the theory of evolution to explain our existence.  We had to have started from something and I believe that God put everything in place at the beginning and just let the pieces fall as they may.  To feel God's presence is to know how everything came to be, and when I felt it I had a lot of questions answered.
Anyways, it was nice to read this article.  I'm not Catholic, but its kinda cool to see a church stand up against ignorance in pursuit of knowledge and science :]
illy!

Tron Sequel with Daft Punk

I found this on Yahoo News...

Daft Punk scores "Tron" soundtrack

NEW YORK (Billboard) – Daft Punk, the French electronica duo known for their robot personas, will compose the score for "TR2N," Walt Disney Pictures' update of its 1982 science fiction classic "Tron."

The film, currently in production, is tentatively scheduled for a 2011 release.

The "TR2N" score marks Daft Punk's first foray into the studio since 2005's "Human After All." After an extended hiatus, the duo reemerged in 2007 for an extensive world tour, spawning the Grammy-wining live set "Alive 2007." The group's 2001 track "Harder Better Faster Stronger" was adapted by Kanye West for his single "Stronger," and the pair appeared at the 2008 Grammy Awards with the rapper.

The musicians, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, split their time between Paris and Los Angeles, where they have assembled a new recording studio for the TR2N project.

Daft Punk have worked in film before, most notably as directors of their feature "Electroma," although that film used none of the group's own music.

The original "Tron," which pioneered the use of computer graphics, was scored by Wendy Carlos, an electronic musician and composer whose "Switched on Bach" album was one of the first to highlight theMoog synthesizer as a musical instrument.

Yo, look at dis camera in my eye dawg!

Filmmaker plans "Eyeborg" eye-socket camera (Reuters)

  • Posted on Thu Mar 5, 2009 12:38PM EST

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - A Canadian filmmaker plans to have a mini camera installed in his prosthetic eye to make documentaries and raise awareness about surveillance in society.

Rob Spence, 36, who lost an eye in an accident as a teen-ager, said his so-called Project Eyeborg is to have the camera, a battery and a wireless transmitter mounted on a tiny circuit board. http://www.eyeborgblog.com/

"Originally the whole idea was to do a documentary about surveillance. I thought I would become a sort of super hero ... fighting for justice against surveillance," Spence said.

"In Toronto there are 12,000 cameras. But the strange thing I discovered was that people don't care about the surveillance cameras, they were more concerned about me and my secret camera eye because they feel that is a worse invasion of their privacy."

Spence, in Brussels to appear at a media conference, said no part of the camera would be connected to his nerves or brain.

He does not intend to create a reality TV show and the camera will be switched off when not needed, he said.

"I don't want to go into a locker room. I don't want to show the world me going to the bathroom either ... I'm not a life-caster and I don't plan to be one," he said.

So this mess is dope... i think if i had a prosthetic eye i would def put a camera in it... i mean imagine having first hand visuals from performances, or imagine smashing girls, jk... but for real though, it would be quite tite :]

Inglourious Basterds (This is Gonna Be Dope)

So I first heard about Tarantino having this screenplay about 5 or 6 years ago, and I was quite interested about it then.  I've always been a big Quentin Tarantino fan, his movies are great, and Kill Bill is a personal favorite of mine that I think will never be topped by possibly anything else.  Anyways, this new movie is finally going to be put out after many years of its rumored existence, and by the trailer, looks to be quite dope... lets hunt some Nazis, lol

SATs and Music/Book Preference (Sorry Weezy :[)

So I found this article on Yahoo, its pretty interesting... and ummm, check out what it says about Lil Wayne... Now keep in mind that correlation does not equal causation so listening to Lil Wayne doesn't necessarily make you dumb, and being dumb doesn't necessarily make you listen to Lil Wayne, its just a correlation, lol...

By Marisa Taylor

Anyone who has ever sought to justify their own musical or literary taste may find some solace in the side project of Virgil Griffith, a 25-year-old Caltech graduate student known forembarrassing numerous corporations with his WikiScanner, the database that tracks the sources of anonymous edits to Wikipedia entries.

With his two Web sites (which have crashed from too much traffic),Booksthatmakeyoudumb.comandMusicthatmakesyoudumb.com, Griffith used aggregated Facebook data about the favorite bands and books among students of various colleges and plotted them against the average SAT scores at those schools, creating a tongue-in-cheek statistical look at taste and intelligence. For example, the favorite musician of the smartest students was Beethoven, with an average SAT score of 1371. Also on the “smart” end of the scale were Sufjan Stevens (1260), Counting Crows (1247), and Radiohead (1220). And sadly for Lil Wayne, enjoying his music was associated with being the dumbest, with an average SAT score of 889.

On the book front, Lolita was favorite tome of the brightest students (a result which Griffith called “charming”), with an average SAT score of 1317. The lowest-scoring students liked the erotica author Zane, with an average score of 980. And strangely, the students who listed their favorite book as “The Bible” were smarter (1047) than those who said it was “The Holy Bible” (980).

Ironically, students who wrote “I don’t read” in the space for favorite books were only slots 14 from the bottom in terms of SAT scores, meaning that there were 13 other favorite books that theoretically made students “dumber” than not reading books at all.

Griffith came up with the idea as a way to show how to take two separate sets of data that were pretty straightforward on their own–in this case, the average SAT score and the favorite books among students at various universities–and combine them to become more interesting. Griffith says, “Their unity is hilarity incarnate. This is to inspire people to think creatively about the data sets that are on the Internet.”

“Of course there is the whole correlation is not causation thing, but, I mean, duh,” he added.

He did find that he had to adjust his measurements and weigh schools according to how populous they were, because small liberal arts colleges were dominating the rankings. For example, Caltech, where he is currently pursuing a doctoral degree, had the highest average SAT score, at 1520, and the school’s favorite band was Radiohead–but with only 913 undergrads, it doesn’t weigh as heavily, as, say, Texas A&M, with more than 35,000 students.

As for his own place on the scale, Griffith’s favorite band is Daft Punk, which didn’t make it onto the list, and his SAT score was “actually fairly low — 1370 out of 1600. I’m actually a little embarrassed by it,” he wrote in an e-mail message, though he then noted, “My GRE was a very acceptable 1490 out of 1600.” The bands that are on the list that he likes? “I actually like Tool a lot, and I see Tool is one of the dumber ones on there. That’s pretty charming.”

Griffith is used to creating controversy, or at least being accused of trying to stir it up–as the founder of WikiScanner, a database that tracks the IP addresses of anonymous Wikipedia editors, he revealed that the CIA, the Vatican, and staff of various members of Congress (among others) had made edits on the site to remove potentially sensitive information.
